Lichada - Evia Greece
Lichada is a small village in northern Evia and is located about 140km from the capital of Chalkida. The village is located on the north west part of Evia and is a perfect destination for relaxing and peaceful holidays on the island.
It is a beautiful village with a traditional character, which is built on a mountainous location full of pine trees. According to mythology Lichada took it's name from Lichas, the servant of the hero Hercules.
The port area of the village is Agios Georgios, a small picturesque fishing village with significant tourist traffic. The port of Agios Georgios connects the area by ferry boat with the port of Agios Konstantinos in Fthiotida.
The main attraction of Lichada is the Holy Church of the Assumption of Panagia (Mary) which is located in the center of the village, well known for the miraculous icon of Panagia. Many visitors from all over the world come to this part of Evia to visit the church
The nearest beach from Lichada is Kavos, long stretched beach with shallow waters and fine sand. From Kavos, during the summer months local caiques depart frequently for the beautiful islands of Lichadonisia located opposite the village and is quite a popular tourist destination.
